DDR in 2010

The first poll has closed and the enclosure suit is the clear winner. See how easy that was...now I know exactly what to work on next.

I think some feedback on our '10 travel plans might be useful. Right now we are set for MAL in January. Our room is booked for MIR next November and we are NOT taking the biz to the Chicago Hyatt in May. All along the plan has been to do more travel in 2010. So here's the poll. Where do you think we should be? Just a few big national events? Stay home and work from the web? or Do 10-20 small regional events through out the country?

It would be great to do it all but resources are limited. Skipping IML will free up resources that can be used more effectively. Time and money regulate the world, only the foolish and government subsidized corporate freeloaders can escape that reality.

Let us know what you think

  1. I did not post to the pole. I feel the option I would drive for is not listed.

I would look at doing a mix of a small number 2-3 (MIR, MAL, etc) large national events and additionally a small number of these smaller events (west coast rbr, etc) that are very rubber targeted.

What I really see as your key selling point is custom work and very unique designs. To get these personal orders it maybe necessary to be out in public showing these wild designs. This will also allow you to get measurements you need for these custom items. Small events will also allow you to get a large % of one on one personal contact and feedback with your key customer base. Where large events do get a good # of people seeing your booth a large number also skip past it and you do not get this one on one contact.

The idea of doing a large number of events small events takes away time to do R&D.

Lastly a web presence is really needed. I have over a dozen times pushed people to the DDR site and told them to watch it for changes. A properly designed informational website would be ideal if a sales based site can not be put up in a timely fashion. If not that a clean site with a link to this blog, Flicker, etc. where information and photos of work would be something to show that work is being done.
